Test 7 of 8

Overhangs and bridges

Tells you: How far your printer can go without supports.

This isn't in Bambu Studio either: download a model that tests angles and bridges separately (not an “all in one”, which mixes problems). · It works the same on any FDM printer. The menu is Bambu Studio's; Orca Slicer has a very similar one, and in other slicers you print the same test with a downloadable model. Can't see the menu?

How

How to read it

See at what angle the wall starts to droop and at what length the bridge sags. That angle tells you where to set the support threshold.

50 °
50°: in this example it still comes out fine, though the underside starts to look rougher. A face at 50° from vertical makes 40° with the horizontal. If your printer holds up to 60°, set the support “Threshold angle” to 30°.

What you read on the piece

30°

A face at 60° from vertical makes 30° with the horizontal. With that “Threshold angle”, flatter faces get support.

Where the value goes: Process › Support › Threshold angle; for bridges, Process › Speed › Bridge.
