Slow down for overhang
Slows down walls that hang out over empty space, depending on how far they hang, without slowing down the rest. It's what lets you print fast and still get good overhangs.
How it works
When a wall leans outward, each line sticks out a little past the layer below: part of its width has nothing underneath. Bambu Studio measures that percentage for each line (0%, fully supported; 100%, entirely in the air) and sorts it into four ranges: 10–25%, 25–50%, 50–75% and 75–100%, plus a fifth for lines that hang 100%. Each range has its own speed.
That way only what hangs gets slowed down: on a part with a small overhang, 95% of the walls keep their normal speed. Since version 1.9.1 the speed doesn't jump between ranges; it changes smoothly with the exact percentage.
When to change it
- A figure with outstretched arms or a mug with a handle: leave it on, which is how it comes from the factory.
- Turn it off only to save a few minutes on parts without overhangs, like a box with straight walls, or to track down the cause of a problem.
