Brim type
In Bambu Studio, the profile 0.20mm Standard @BBL A1 sets it toAuto
Whether a brim (a flat, one-layer band stuck to the base of the part) is added and where: automatic, outside, inside the holes, on painted corners, or none.
How it works
The brim enlarges the area stuck to the plate: the part withstands bumps from the print head better and the corners don't lift as it cools. When the print is done, you snap it off by hand.
“Auto” (the default) looks at each part (whether it's tall and narrow, whether the material shrinks, the speed) and adds a brim only where needed, at the width it calculates. The manual types use the width you set. “Painted” only adds round ears on the corners you mark with the brim ears tool.
When to change it
- For almost anything: “Auto”.
- An ABS, ASA or nylon box, or a tall lighthouse with a small base: “Outer brim only” at 5–8 mm wide.
- A long PLA tray where only a couple of corners lift: “Painted”, with ears right there.

Watch out for
- In the Spanish version of the program it shows up as “Tipo de balsa” (raft type), but it's the brim: a raft is something else (a full base under the part).
- It leaves a thin lip on the base; on parts that fit together, you'll need to sand it.
- The inner brim only exists if the part has real holes in its first layer. You can also set it per object: each part on the plate with its own type.

This controls the generation of the brim at outer and/or inner side of models. Auto means the brim width is analysed and calculated automatically.
