Use infill instead of top and bottom surfaces
In Bambu Studio, the profile 0.20mm Standard @BBL A1 sets it toNo
The part isn't closed on top or bottom: the infill pattern runs all the way to the faces. It's a texture effect meant for the “Locked Zag” pattern.
Not always visible. In Bambu Studio this setting only shows up when “Sparse infill pattern” is “Locked Zag”. See Sparse infill pattern.
How it works
Normally the top and bottom faces are closed with solid layers. With this option, the infill keeps printing to the very end instead, and the part is left open.
That way you see both parts of “Locked Zag”: the skin (the infill closest to the walls) and the skeleton (the infill in the middle). It's for objects where the infill texture is the design, or that need to let air through.
When to change it
- A lampshade or a decorative basket where you want the infill mesh to show: turn it on, with the “Locked Zag” pattern.
- A box to vent a filter or a device that gets warm: turn it on so air passes through the top and bottom.
- Any regular part: off.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| No | Default; closed facesdefault |
| Yes | Open faces showing the infill pattern |
Watch out for
- It only shows up with the “Locked Zag” infill pattern.
- With the bottom face open, the part sticks worse to the plate: add a brim around the base (“Brim width”).
