How fuzzy skin is made
In Bambu Studio, the profile 0.20mm Standard @BBL A1 sets it toDisplacement
Whether the texture is made by moving the nozzle sideways (displacement), by varying how much plastic it pushes out (extrusion), or both.
How it works
“Displacement” moves the nozzle back and forth across the path: real, pronounced relief, with possible gaps between wall loops. “Extrusion” keeps the nozzle straight and changes the amount of plastic: the bead comes out thick and thin in stretches, the walls are denser and the texture is softer.
“Combined” does both: it looks like displacement, but fills the gaps between loops.
When to change it
- A planter with a strong stone texture: Displacement (default).
- A textured case that comes out porous or weak: Combined.
- A subtle texture that barely changes the shape: Extrusion.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| Displacement | Defaultdefault |
| Extrusion | Subtle, dense walls |
| Combined | Pronounced, no gaps |
Watch out for
- Extrusion and Combined only work if the texture thickness doesn't exceed the line width (about 0.42 mm); if it does, the program uses Displacement.
- Only shows up with fuzzy skin turned on.
Goes well with
What Bambu Studio says
Displacement: Pattern is formed by shifting the nozzle sideways from the original path. Extrusion: Pattern is formed by varying the amount of extruded plastic (nozzle path stays straight). Combined: Displacement + Extrusion. Similar look to Displacement but fills gaps between perimeters. Note: Extrusion and Combined only work when fuzzy skin thickness is not greater than the printed line width.
