Support/raft base filament
In Bambu Studio, the profile 0.20mm Standard @BBL A1 sets it toDefault
Which filament prints the support body and the raft. “Default” uses the same one as the part; a different filament makes sense for soluble support or to use up a cheap one.
How it works
Support has two parts: the interface (the few layers that touch the part) and the body (everything else). This setting picks the filament for the body and the raft; the interface has its own setting (“Support/raft interface”).
With “Default” there are no filament changes: the body is printed with whichever filament is in use on that layer. If you pick another filament from the AMS (the automatic filament changer), every layer with support adds a spool change with its purge (the plastic thrown away to clean the nozzle), so the print takes a lot longer.
When to change it
- Almost always: “Default”.
- A part with inner cavities where you can't reach in to pull anything out: soluble support (PVA) here and in the interface too.
- To avoid wasting an expensive filament (a silk or a multicolor) on support: a cheap PLA here and the good one on the part, at the cost of time spent on changes.

Watch out for
- For the support to come off easily, the interface is what matters, not the body: change “Support/raft interface” first.
- A tall, thin support made entirely of support filament can warp or fall over.
- Don't mix materials with very different temperatures (PLA support with ABS): it causes clogs and poor adhesion.
