Support/raft interface filament
In Bambu Studio, the profile 0.20mm Standard @BBL A1 sets it toDefault
Which filament prints the support layers that touch the part. With a support filament (or a soluble one), the support comes away almost by itself and the underside comes out smooth.
How it works
The interface is the few dense layers between the support and the part. If they're the same plastic as the part, they stick together; that's why the slicer leaves a gap (the “Top Z distance”), which makes the underside worse.
With a filament that doesn't fuse with the part (Bambu Support for PLA, soluble PVA, or PETG under PLA and vice versa), the interface can sit right against it (Z distance at 0). The underside comes out almost as if printed on the plate and the support peels off with your fingers. The filament only changes on those layers, so the extra time is small.
When to change it
- A figure whose underside will be on show, if you have an AMS and a spool of Support for PLA: put it here.
- No support filament: PETG as the interface for a PLA part (or the other way around) works, because they don't stick to each other.
- No AMS and no second filament: leave “Default” and adjust “Top Z distance”.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| Default | Same as the part; defaultdefault |
| Support for PLA / PVA | Comes off by itself, smooth underside |
| PETG under PLA | A workaround without support filament |
Watch out for
- When you pick a Bambu support filament, the program offers to lower the Z distance to 0 and change the interface pattern: accept.
- PVA absorbs moisture very quickly: keep it dry or it won't print well.
- It's grayed out if there are no interface layers (“Top interface layers” at 0).

Filament to print support interface. "Default" means no specific filament for support interface and current filament is used
