In Bambu Studio, the profile 0.20mm Standard @BBL A1 sets it toNo
Support only grows from the plate and never rests on top of the part. Faces stay cleaner, but overhangs that could only be held up from the part itself are left without help.
Greyed out (you can see it but not change it) unless “Enable support” is on. See Enable support.
How it works
Normally, support can start wherever it suits it: on the plate or on a face of the part that sits below the overhang. Resting on the part leaves marks on that face.
With this box checked, all support starts on the plate. An arm that sticks out above another part of the model (like a shelf above a table) has no clear path down to the plate and prints without support.
When to change it
- A stepped organizer whose top faces need to be perfect, when the ledge above is short or holds itself up: turn it on.
- A part with an inner cavity where you couldn't get your fingers or pliers in to pull the support out: turn it on.
- With tree support it usually matters less: the branches already dodge the part on their own.

Watch out for
- Check the preview: overhangs left without support don't give any warning.
- Painting support by hand in that area doesn't get around the restriction: the plate rule still wins.
