Full auxiliary fan speed at layer

The layer where the auxiliary fan reaches its speed, ramping up from the first layers. Many printers, like the A1, don't have that fan.

How it works

Some printers (several Bambu Lab ones among them) have an auxiliary fan that blows on the part from the side, in addition to the fan on the print head. These settings control it the same way as the part cooling fan: some initial layers with their own speed, an optional ramp and a speed for the rest.

The A1 has no auxiliary fan (its machine profile says so). The slicer shows these settings anyway, but without that fan they do nothing.

When to change it

  • If your printer has no auxiliary fan (like the A1): don't touch it.
  • With a printer that has one and parts that come loose when the fan kicks in: 4–6.

Watch out for

  • Don't confuse it with the part cooling fan (the one on the print head), set further up in this same tab.

What Bambu Studio says

Auxiliary fan speed will be ramped up linearly from layer "For the first" to maximum at layer "Full fan speed at layer". "Full fan speed at layer" will be ignored if lower than "For the first", in which case the fan will be running at maximum allowed speed at layer "For the first" + 1.

Using another slicer? Look for the idea, not the name: in Orca Slicer almost everything has the same name; in PrusaSlicer or Cura it may be called something else, or not exist.
