Slow down by height
Lowers the maximum speed as the part grows taller. It's meant for tall, narrow parts that wobble when the print head moves fast at the very top.
How it works
A thin 200 mm tower is like a stick planted in the plate: the higher the print head works, the more every change of direction shakes it, and the top layers come out shifted or rippled. This setting puts a cap on speed and acceleration (how abruptly the print head starts and stops) that drops in a straight line between a starting height and an ending height.
Turning it on reveals six values: height, speed and acceleration at the start and at the end of the range. From the factory the caps are so high (1000 mm/s and 100,000 mm/s²) that they don't slow anything down: you have to set them by hand.
When to change it
- A thin tower, a tall figure or a tall vase that comes out with ripples or shifted layers near the top: turn it on and lower the ending speed and acceleration.
- Short or wide parts, like a box or a low planter: not needed.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| No | Defaultdefault |
| Yes | Speed cap that drops with height |
Watch out for
- The ending height must be greater than the starting height or it won't work.
- Lowering only the speed without lowering the acceleration helps little: the jolts come from acceleration.

Using another slicer? Look for the idea, not the name: in Orca Slicer almost everything has the same name; in PrusaSlicer or Cura it may be called something else, or not exist.
