Scarf steps
How many steps the scarf ramp is split into. More steps give a smoother ramp and a print file (G-code) with more instructions.
How it works
The ramp isn't one continuous sloped line but a staircase of short segments: each one sits a little higher and lays down a little more plastic than the one before. 10 segments is a good balance.
It's a minimum: if the shape of the loop calls for it, the slicer uses more.
When to change it
- You almost never need to touch it.
- A vase printed with thick layers (0.28 mm) where you can see steps in the seam: raise it to 15 or 20.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 5 | Rough ramp, fewer instructions |
| 10 | Defaultdefault |
| 20 | Very smooth ramp |
Watch out for
- Many steps on short loops create tiny movements that the printer makes in jerks.
