Arc fitting
Turns curves made of many tiny straight segments into real arcs (the G2 and G3 commands in the G-code). The print head moves more smoothly, vibrates less and the file is smaller.
How it works
The model's curves are chains of short segments. At each joint the print head brakes and speeds up a little; at high speeds, that turns into vibration and noise. With this option, the slicer looks for consecutive segments that fit on a circle and replaces them with a single arc command.
How exact that circle has to be is set by “Resolution”. Bambu Studio has it turned on in its profiles.
When to change it
- You have a Bambu Lab or a printer with Marlin firmware: leave it on.
- You have a printer with Klipper: turn it off. Klipper chops the arcs back into segments, so nothing is gained and the surface may get worse.
