Seam gap
How early, before closing the loop, the nozzle stops pushing out plastic. A tiny gap soaks up the leftover plastic and the seam bulges less.
How it works
When each wall loop closes, the end point meets the start point and a small blob of extra plastic often forms, because the nozzle keeps oozing a little from built-up pressure. This setting stops pushing plastic slightly before arriving, and that leftover fills the gap.
It's given as a percentage of the nozzle diameter: 15% with a 0.4 mm nozzle is 0.06 mm.
When to change it
- A cube or a box where the seam makes a bump you can feel with your finger: raise it to 20 or 25%.
- A cup or a vase where the seam is sunken or has a tiny hole: lower it to 10% or to 0.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 0 | No gap; closes the full loop |
| 15% | Defaultdefault |
| 25% | Filaments that ooze a lot |
Watch out for
- If the seam still bulges at 25% or more, the problem is pressure (Flow Dynamics Calibration) or the amount of plastic (the flow), not this gap.
- With the scarf seam turned on (“Scarf seam type”), the scarf already spreads the leftover plastic along the ramp and this gap matters less.
- It only shows up with Develop mode turned on in Preferences.

What Bambu Studio says
In order to reduce the visibility of the seam in a closed loop extrusion, the loop is interrupted and shortened by a specified amount. This amount as a percentage of the current extruder diameter. The default value for this parameter is 15
