Noise octaves
How many levels of detail are stacked in the texture: one big wave plus others that get finer and finer. More octaves mean more detail and longer slicing.
How it works
Each octave adds a layer of noise that is finer and weaker than the one before, like adding big waves, medium waves and small ripples. With 1 there's only the big wave; with 4 (default), the texture has detail at several scales.
From 5 or 6 up, the detail is finer than the nozzle can print, and slicing takes longer for nothing.
When to change it
- For most textures: 4 (default).
- A planter with soft, clean waves: 1–2.
- A large vase with a very detailed rock texture: 5–6.
Typical values

Watch out for
- Has no effect with Classic noise.

The number of octaves of coherent noise to use. Higher values increase the detail of the noise, but also increase computation time.
