Raft contact Z distance
The gap left between the last layer of the raft and the first layer of the part, so you can separate them by hand afterward.
How it works
If the part were printed pressed against the raft, they'd fuse and there'd be no way to separate them. The slicer leaves a small gap: the part rests on the raft without welding to it.
The bigger the gap, the easier it is to peel off and the rougher the underside of the part (it's printed half in the air). The smaller it is, the better the face and the more work to separate them.
When to change it
- PLA and PETG: the default 0.10 mm works well.
- A part that ended up welded to the raft and broke when you pulled them apart: raise it to 0.15–0.20 mm.
- With support filament in the interface (like Support for PLA): 0, so the part sits fully on it. If it's soluble (PVA), there's no need to touch it: the slicer ignores it.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 0.10 mm | Defaultdefault |
| 0.15–0.20 mm | Peels off more easily |
| 0 | Only with support filament in the interface |
Watch out for
- It only shows up when “Raft layers” is above 0.
- If the interface uses soluble filament, this value is ignored and the part sits directly on the raft.
