Bottom surface density
How closed the face that touches the plate is. At 100% it's a solid base; lower values leave gaps between the lines and the part sticks worse.
How it works
Just like on the top face, lowering the density spreads the base lines apart and creates a grille-like texture. But the base is also what holds the part on the plate: less plastic in contact means less grip.
Bambu Studio warns about this in the setting itself. The lowest allowed value is 10%.
When to change it
- A coaster or a small, flat plaque where you want the base to have a mesh texture: 40–60%.
- A tall or thin part, like a vase or a headphone stand: always 100%, so it doesn't come loose.
- Everything else: 100%.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 100% | Default; closed base that sticks welldefault |
| 50% | Grille; less grip |
Watch out for
- On tall or narrow parts, a base with gaps can come loose halfway through the print.
- It's not a fix for a first layer with too much plastic (over-extrusion): use “Initial layer flow ratio” for that.
