First layers with special fan
How many layers at the start use a separate fan speed, usually off, so the part grips the plate well.
How it works
The fan cools freshly laid plastic. On the first layer that works against you: warm plastic sticks better to the plate. That's why the first layers use their own speed, the “Fan speed” on this same row, which is 0 by default.
After those layers, the fan follows each layer's time, or ramps up gradually if you set a ramp (“Full fan speed at layer”).
When to change it
- For almost everything: 1, as it comes.
- ABS, ASA or large parts that lift at the corners: 2 or 3.
