Support wall loops
How many outline loops each support column or branch gets around its infill. At −1 the slicer decides; 0 allows infill-only support where it's thick enough.
How it works
Just like a part, support has an outline (walls) and infill. Walls give it stiffness and a continuous surface; without them, the column is just a handful of infill lines, easier to snap off but weaker.
At −1, the slicer chooses (usually one wall; more with “Tree Strong”). At 0 it allows columns with no wall when they're thick enough; 1 or 2 forces that number.
When to change it
- Most parts: −1 (the default).
- Branches that snap or wobble while printing (under the arms of a tall figure): 1 or 2.
- Wide supports under the roof of a box that are really hard to remove and don't carry any load: 0.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| −1 | Auto; defaultdefault |
| 0 | Infill only, easier to remove |
| 2 | Maximum stiffness |
Watch out for
- Each extra wall costs plastic and time on every layer with support.
- With tree support, thin branches need a wall so they don't break.
