Remove small overhangs
Skip support under tiny ledges (a chamfer, a raised letter, a one-millimeter lip) that print fine on their own.
Greyed out (you can see it but not change it) unless “Enable support” is on. See Enable support.
How it works
An overhang of a millimeter or less holds up perfectly well in the air: the lines are so short they're supported from the sides. Giving it a column wastes time and plastic, and leaves a mark when you snap it off.
With this box checked, the slicer ignores those small overhangs when generating support; without it, every ledge, however tiny, gets its own support.
When to change it
- Almost always: leave it on, as it comes.
- Only turn it off if a droopy material (TPU, very hot PETG) ruins exactly those details, like the lip of a screw-on lid.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| On | Tiny details go unsupported; defaultdefault |
| Off | Everything gets support |
Watch out for
- The slicer decides what counts as “small”; there's no number to adjust.
- If a small detail comes out badly, before touching this try lowering the overhang speed or raising the part cooling fan.
