Ironing pattern
The path the nozzle follows while ironing: back-and-forth lines, rings that follow the edge, or a spiral. It changes how the ironing marks look, not how much it smooths.
How it works
“Rectilinear” goes back and forth in parallel lines: it's simple and works for almost any flat surface. The angle of those lines is set in “Ironing direction”.
“Concentric” follows the outline of the surface inward, ring by ring. It fits round, oval or rounded-corner shapes better and leaves fewer marks along the edges.
“Archimedean Chords” is one continuous spiral that avoids jumps between rings and steers around holes and islands.
When to change it
- A rectangular box lid or a sign: “Rectilinear”.
- A round coaster, a jar lid or a part with rounded corners: “Concentric”.
- A surface with several holes, like a lid with vent slots: try “Archimedean Chords”.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| Rectilinear | Default; straight-edged surfacesdefault |
| Concentric | Round shapes |
| Archimedean Chords | Continuous spiral; surfaces with holes |
Watch out for
- With “Concentric” a small gap or mark can appear where it steps from one ring to the next, especially if the surface has holes.
- It only shows up if “Ironing Type” is not set to “No ironing”.
