Smart scarf seam
Lets the slicer decide where to use the scarf: only on smooth loops, which have no corners to hide the seam in.
How it works
A sharp corner hides a normal seam almost completely; there the scarf adds nothing and costs time. With this option, the slicer looks at each loop: if it has a fairly sharp corner it uses a normal seam, and if it's smooth or rounded it applies the scarf.
What counts as a “corner” is set by “Scarf application angle threshold” (155° by default). If you turn this off, the scarf is applied to every loop.
When to change it
- A pencil holder with corners and a curved rim, or any part that mixes straight and round sections: leave it on; each loop gets the seam that suits it.
- You want a scarf on absolutely every loop, including those of a box with corners: turn it off.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| Yes | Default; only where there's no cornerdefault |
| No | Scarf on every loop |
Watch out for
- It only has an effect if the scarf is turned on in the filament (or in the process, if you checked “Override filament scarf seam setting”).
