Minimum fan speed
The least the fan blows when layers take long enough to print that they cool on their own.
How it works
Bambu Studio sets the fan by how long each layer takes. Long layers have time to cool: the fan runs at this minimum. Short ones don't: the fan rises toward the maximum.
With “Keep fan always on” turned on (as in PLA Basic), the fan never goes below this value; otherwise it turns off on the longest layers.
When to change it
- PLA: high (PLA Basic: 60%); PLA likes air.
- PETG, ABS or ASA: low (the ABS base profile has 10%). With a lot of air, layers bond worse and cracks appear.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 60% | PLA Basicdefault |
| 20% | PETG (base profile) |
| 10% | ABS and ASA (base profile) |
Watch out for
- If layers split with little effort, it may be too much air: try lowering the minimum.
