Support interface pattern
The pattern of the support layer that touches the part: lines, interlaced lines, rings or grid. It changes how smooth the underside comes out and how hard the support is to peel off.
How it works
The interface is the only part of the support that touches the part, so its pattern gets printed onto the underside. Parallel lines peel off easily; interlaced lines close the sheet better; rings follow curves; grid is the stiffest and the hardest to peel off.
“Default” picks “Rectilinear Interlaced” with regular filament and “Concentric” with support filament (a special one that doesn't stick to the part). Combined with 0 spacing, it gives the smoothest underside.
When to change it
- For almost anything: “Default”.
- A sphere or a figure's head, with support filament in the interface and the curved underside on show: “Concentric” and “Top interface spacing” at 0.
- The wide, flat roof of a model house, which needs a very stiff platform: “Grid”.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| Default | Factory settingdefault |
| Rectilinear / Interlaced | Easy to peel off |
| Concentric | Curved faces, with support filament |
| Grid | Stiffest, hard to peel off |
Watch out for
- With “Grid” you can't iron the interface (smooth it with a pass of the hot nozzle).
