Skin line width
With the “Locked Zag” pattern: how wide the lines of plastic in the skin are. Wider lines give a more solid skin without changing the density.
Not always visible. In Bambu Studio this setting only shows up when “Sparse infill pattern” is “Locked Zag”. See Sparse infill pattern.
How it works
It's like the regular infill line width, but only for the skin. At 0.45 mm (the default) it matches the “Sparse infill” width.
When to change it
- A shelf bracket or a clamp whose skin has to be very stiff: 0.5 or 0.6 mm.
- The usual: 0.45 mm.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 0.42 | Same as the outer wall |
| 0.45 | Defaultdefault |
| 0.6 | Solid skin |
Watch out for
- A wider line at the same speed needs more plastic per second: if you go over the filament's limit (“Max volumetric speed”), the nozzle can't melt it fast enough and you get gaps.
- It only shows up with the “Locked Zag” infill pattern.
