Wipe speed
How fast the nozzle “wipes itself” by dragging over the freshly printed wall before moving somewhere else.
How it works
When a loop finishes, the printer pulls the filament back so it doesn't drip (the retraction) and, to avoid leaving a blob, runs a few millimeters over the line it just laid without pushing out plastic. That sweep is the wipe.
The value is a percentage of the travel speed (the moves where the nozzle goes somewhere without printing): 80% means the wipe runs at 80% of that speed.
When to change it
- A cube or a box with little dots or bumps where each loop ends: lower it to 50 or 60% so the wipe cleans better.
- A figure with thin strings, like cobwebs, coming off the wall: raise it a little.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 50% | Slow, careful wipe |
| 80% | Defaultdefault |
| 100% | Same as travel |
Watch out for
- If “Role-based wipe speed” is turned on (and it is from the factory), this value isn't used.
- It only shows up with Develop mode turned on in Preferences.
