Top surface acceleration
How hard the print head speeds up and brakes on the top surface, the face on top. It's kept low so each change of direction doesn't leave a mark.
How it works
The top surface is printed in parallel lines, with a turn at the end of each one. Every turn is a hard stop; with high acceleration, plastic builds up at the turn and the top comes out with marked edges. At 2000 mm/s² (the default), the turns are smooth and the surface stays even. Since it's only the last layer, it adds almost no time.
When to change it
- A box lid or a coaster with marks along the edges of the top face: lower to 1000.
- A part whose top face ends up hidden (a bracket screwed against a wall): raise to 5000.
