Support base pattern spacing
The distance between the lines in the body of the support. Closer together, the support is sturdier and uses more plastic; farther apart, it's lighter, but the layer on top has less to rest on.
How it works
The body of the support is a lattice of lines, and this setting is the distance between them. At 2.5 mm (the default), the interface—the dense layer that touches the part—spans the gaps between lines without sagging, and the support comes off without a fight.
At 0, the support is printed solid. With the honeycomb pattern, this number is the radius of each cell, so 0 turns it into lines.
When to change it
- For almost anything, from a hook to a figure: leave the default 2.5 mm.
- The underside of a shelf comes out wavy because the support's top layer sags between lines: lower it to 1.5–2 mm.
- A large model with huge supports, where you want to save filament: raise it to 3.5–4 mm.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 2.5 mm | Defaultdefault |
| 1.5–2 mm | Better-supported interface |
| 3.5–4 mm | Saves plastic |
Watch out for
- It doesn't apply to the “Hollow” or “Lightning” patterns.
- With lines very close together and several support walls, the support turns into a block that's hard to remove.
