Ironing line spacing
The distance between one pass and the next while the nozzle irons. Closer lines mean each spot gets ironed several times and comes out smoother, but it takes longer.
Not always visible. In Bambu Studio this setting only shows up when “Ironing Type” is not “No ironing”. See Ironing Type.
How it works
Ironing lines are much closer together than normal ones: 0.15 mm with a 0.4 mm nozzle. That way the flat tip of the nozzle, which is about 1 mm across, passes over each area several times.
If you space the lines wider than the nozzle, you get stripes that weren't ironed.
When to change it
- A box lid that still shows stripes after ironing: lower it to 0.1 mm.
- A large sign that takes too long and already looks good enough: raise it to 0.2 or 0.25 mm.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 0.1 | Very fine; slower |
| 0.15 | Defaultdefault |
| 0.25 | Faster |
| 0.5 | Visible stripes |
Watch out for
- Changing the spacing changes how much plastic lands on each area: if you bring the lines much closer, lower “Ironing flow” a little.
