Clumping detection by probing
Have the printer check on layers 4, 11 and 20 for plastic wrapped around the nozzle, by moving down to touch the plate. It's for the H2D, H2S, H2C and P2S; on the A1 it's turned on from the printer's screen.
How it works
When the first layer doesn't stick, the plastic wraps around the nozzle and forms a blob that keeps growing until it damages the printer. With this detection, before those layers the toolhead goes to the back of the plate and moves down until it touches it: if there's a blob, the nozzle touches sooner, the sensor notices and the print pauses.
Since the nozzle oozes during the test, the slicer generates a 20-layer prime tower to catch that plastic.
When to change it
- On the A1: leave it off; its detection is turned on from the printer's screen.
- An H2D printing a large part in ABS or PC (high-temperature materials) overnight: turn it on.
