Support line width
How wide the lines of the supports and of their contact layer with the part are. Wider gives sturdier supports that are harder to remove.
How it works
Supports end up in the trash, so their width is chosen so they print fast and come off cleanly. The standard is 0.42 mm, and it's also used for the contact layer (the one touching the part).
When to change it
- Tall, thin supports, like the ones holding up a figure's outstretched arm, that fall over mid-print: raise it a little, to 0.45 or 0.5 mm.
- A support mark that's too visible on the underside: the fix is usually in “Top Z distance” (the gap between the support and the part), not in this width.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 0.42 | Standarddefault |
| 0.50 | Sturdier supports |
Watch out for
- A wider line also sticks better to the part: the support may be harder to remove.
