Layer stagger
With conformal infill: decides whether neighboring layers stack identically or shift, so each line connects to the next one at the opposite end. Shifting them bonds the layers better.
How it works
“Off” repeats the same pattern on every layer: the lines land exactly on top of each other. “Alternate” keeps the line directions, but on the next layer it connects each line to its neighbor on the opposite side. That way the joints don't stack on top of each other and the layers lock together better.
When to change it
- A long hook or clip that snapped along a layer: “Alternate”.
- A bracket that will take knocks or pulls: “Alternate”.
- Everything else: “Off”.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| Off | Defaultdefault |
| Alternate | Shifted layers; better bonding |
Watch out for
- It only shows up when conformal infill is on.

What Bambu Studio says
How neighboring layers are offset. Off stacks the same layout. Alternate keeps the same line directions but connects each line to the neighboring one on the opposite side, which improves interlayer bonding.

Using another slicer? Look for the idea, not the name: in Orca Slicer almost everything has the same name; in PrusaSlicer or Cura it may be called something else, or not exist.
