Top surface density
How closed the top face is. At 100% it's a solid lid; lower values leave gaps between the lines, like a texture or a grille.
How it works
Normally the last layer is solid: the lines of plastic touch and there are no gaps. If you lower the density, the lines spread apart and the top gets a grille-like texture. At 0% only the walls are printed and the top is left open.
It's a looks or practical setting (ventilation grilles, light diffusers), not a fix for print problems.
When to change it
- The lid of a box for a router or a power supply that needs airflow: 30–60% and it becomes a grille.
- A lamp where you want light to show through the top as a mesh: 40–50%.
- Everything else: 100%.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 100% | Default; closed topdefault |
| 50% | Visible grille |
| 0% | Walls only; open top |
Watch out for
- Don't use it to fix a top with too much plastic (over-extrusion): that's what “Top surface flow ratio” is for.
- Below 100%, you can see the infill underneath through the gaps.

What Bambu Studio says
Density of top surface infill, 100% means a fully solid filled top layer.Lower values create a textured top surface, at 0%, only the walls are created on the top layer.Intended for aesthetic or functional purposes, not to fix issues such as over-extrusion.
