Ironing inset
How far the ironing stays away from the edge of the surface. It keeps plastic from piling up against the wall and forming a ridge.
How it works
If you iron right up to the edge, the little plastic the nozzle drags along piles up on the rim and forms a lip. With an inset, ironing stops a few tenths of a millimeter before the edge and that lip doesn't appear.
In the program it's called “Ironing inset”. Bambu Studio added it in version 1.10, and the profiles use 0.21 mm, a bit more than half the width of a 0.4 mm nozzle. At 0, no inset is left.
When to change it
- A sign with raised letters that end up with a ridge on the rim after ironing: raise it to 0.3 or 0.4 mm.
- A box lid with an un-ironed stripe along the edge: lower it to 0.1 mm or to 0.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 0 | No inset; irons right to the edge |
| 0.21 | Defaultdefault |
| 0.4 | Very pronounced edges |
Watch out for
- With a large inset, a ring around the surface is left un-ironed.
