Travel acceleration
How hard the print head speeds up and brakes on travel moves, when it moves without laying plastic. Since nothing is being printed, it only changes the time and the vibration left over when the head arrives.
How it works
On a travel move there's no plastic to lay down, so acceleration can be much higher than when printing: 10,000 mm/s² by default. The only limit is that the head should reach the next point without shaking, because if it arrives wobbling, the first line it prints comes out wavy.
When to change it
- Most parts: leave 10,000.
- A sign with lots of separate letters that shows marks right where each line starts after a jump: lower to 6000.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 6000 | Smoother arrivals |
| 10000 | Defaultdefault |
Watch out for
- Short travel moves next to the outer wall use their own, much lower acceleration (“Short travel”).
