Noise persistence
How much the fine details count compared with the texture's big wave. Low gives a soft texture; high, a rough one.
How it works
Each noise octave weighs a fraction of the one before, and this value is that fraction. With 0.5 (default), each level weighs half as much as the previous one; with 0.2, the fine details barely show; with 0.9, they weigh almost as much as the big wave.
In practice, it's the “roughness” knob for coherent noises.
When to change it
- To start: 0.5 (default).
- A smooth, rounded river stone: 0.2–0.3.
- A rough rock or tree bark: 0.7–0.9.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 0.5 | Defaultdefault |
| 0.2–0.3 | Soft |
| 0.7–0.9 | Rough |
Watch out for
- Has no effect with Classic noise.
