Metal stickiness
How much the filament tends to stick to the nozzle and leave residue. With “Auto”, it decides whether retraction is skipped inside the infill.
How it works
Some plastics, like PETG, stick to the nozzle and ooze more. Others, like PLA, barely do. The “Reduce infill retraction” setting (Process tab), on “Auto”, looks at this value: with low stickiness it skips retraction on travel moves inside the infill, which nobody sees, and saves time; with medium or high it always retracts, so oozing doesn't show on the walls.
“None” means untested, and is treated like “Low”.
When to change it
- Don't touch it: the profile sets it.
- Your own PETG profile with blobs showing through the walls: set it to “High”.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| None | PLA Basic; same as Lowdefault |
| Low | PLA |
| High | PETG |
Watch out for
- If “Reduce infill retraction” is on “Enabled” or “Disabled”, this value isn't used.

What Bambu Studio says
Indicates how strongly the filament tends to stick to the metal nozzle and leave residue. "None" means untested or custom filament, behaves the same as Low. Low: e.g. PLA - retraction can be safely skipped in infill areas. Medium: moderate stickiness - use with caution. High: e.g. PETG - retraction should not be skipped to avoid oozing artifacts on outer walls.
