Layers per beam
How many layers tall each interlocking beam is. Fewer layers make a stronger bond, but the teeth are harder to print well.
How it works
The beams alternate vertically: for some layers material A goes into B, and for the next ones, the other way around. With 2-layer teeth (default) there are many crossing points and each tooth prints well.
With 1-layer teeth there are many crossings, but tiny ones; with 4- or 5-layer teeth they're sturdy, but few.
When to change it
- To start: 2 (default).
- When you cut open a test part, the teeth come out broken or incomplete: 3.
- Materials that already stick to each other fairly well and you want the strongest bond: 1.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 2 | Defaultdefault |
| 3 | Easier to print |
| 1 | Most crossings |
Watch out for
- Only works with “Use beam interlocking” turned on.

What Bambu Studio says
The height of the beams of the interlocking structure, measured in number of layers. Less layers is stronger, but more prone to defects.
