Don't support bridges
Makes the normal support leave bridges (spans in the air held up at both ends) without columns, so they print as bridges, with the strands pulled tight from side to side.
How it works
A bridge is different from an overhang: it's supported at both ends, and the lines stretch from one to the other. PLA prints bridges of up to about 10–20 mm fine on its own. Even so, the normal support also fills the space under bridges with columns, unless you check this box.
With it on, bridges are left without support and print as bridges: less plastic and no marks under the bridge. On long bridges, the strands may sag.
When to change it
- A box with ventilation slots or a wall bracket with short windows: turn it on; short bridges come out better without support.
- The arch of a model bridge longer than 30–40 mm, or a material that sags like PETG: leave it off.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| Off | Bridges get support too; defaultdefault |
| On | Bridges without support |
Watch out for
- It only exists for normal supports: tree supports use “Max bridge length” instead.
- Bridge quality also depends on bridge speed, bridge flow (how much plastic comes out) and cooling.

What Bambu Studio says
Don't support the whole bridge area which makes support very large. Bridge usually can be printing directly without support if not very long
