Short travel acceleration
A very low acceleration for short travel moves that pass next to the outer wall, so the head doesn't jolt right beside the visible face. 0 turns it off.
How it works
A travel move of a couple of millimeters next to the outer wall (for example, when jumping from one loop to the next) is a whiplash if it uses the normal travel acceleration, and it leaves ripples on the surface. At 250 mm/s² (the default), that little hop is done gently and, since it's so short, it adds almost no time.
A travel move counts as short when it's shorter than the minimum distance that makes the printer retract the filament (a printer profile setting, in the retraction section).
When to change it
- Most parts: leave 250.
- A vase or a box with ripples on the outside face, right next to the corners: check that it isn't set to 0.
- A large part with hundreds of short hops, where time matters more than finish: 500.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 250 | Defaultdefault |
| 500 | A bit faster |
| 0 | Off; uses travel acceleration |
Watch out for
- It only shows up with Developer mode turned on in Preferences.

What Bambu Studio says
Acceleration used for short travel moves near external perimeters. Short travels are moves shorter than the 'Retraction minimum travel' distance. Lower values (e.g., 250-500 mm/s²) reduce ringing artifacts on sharp corners without significantly impacting print time. Set to 0 to disable (uses normal travel acceleration).
