Avoid crossing walls, supports too
Applies the detour to supports as well: when moving without printing, the nozzle avoids crossing their walls, not just the part's.
How it works
“Avoid crossing wall” goes around the outline of the part. Supports have their own outline and, by default, the nozzle just crosses them, because it doesn't matter if they get marked. With this option they're treated as part of the model and get detoured around too.
It helps when the strings the nozzle leaves while crossing the supports end up stuck to the part, or when the bumps knock the support loose.
When to change it
- A figurine with tall, thin supports under an outstretched arm that tip over from the nozzle bumping them or leave strings stuck to the part: turn it on.
- Normally, leave it off: detouring around supports makes travel moves much longer.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| Off | Default; supports get crosseddefault |
| On | Supports get detoured around too |
Watch out for
- It only shows up with “Avoid crossing wall” turned on.
- More detours, more print time.

Using another slicer? Look for the idea, not the name: in Orca Slicer almost everything has the same name; in PrusaSlicer or Cura it may be called something else, or not exist.
