Filament scarf seam type
The scarf seam type this filament brings: none, outline only or holes too.
How it works
Instead of a vertical cut, the end of each loop ramps over its start and the seam almost disappears.
It's the same scarf seam as in the Process tab (Quality › Seam), but stored in the filament profile: that way each material can bring its own scarf. If “Override filament scarf seam setting” is on in Process, Process wins and this is ignored.
When to change it
- PLA Basic: none; the scarf is decided in Process.
- A silk or glossy filament where you always want the scarf seam: “Contour”.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| None | PLA Basicdefault |
| Contour | Smooth, round parts |
Watch out for
- The scarf lays down less plastic on the ramp: on overhangs it may bond poorly.

Using another slicer? Look for the idea, not the name: in Orca Slicer almost everything has the same name; in PrusaSlicer or Cura it may be called something else, or not exist.
