Internal solid infill line width
How wide the hidden solid layers are: the ones right below the top surface or above the bottom one, and the small areas the slicer fills in completely.
How it works
If you ask for, say, 5 solid layers on top, only the last one is the “top surface”; the other four are internal solid infill. The same goes for the bottom. Infill areas smaller than the “Minimum sparse infill threshold” also count, since they're printed solid.
Since they're hidden, a 0.42 mm line does the job: it closes the gaps in the infill and leaves a flat base for the layer above.
When to change it
- Almost never: the factory value works for nearly everything.
- A box lid that comes out with gaps or strings on top: before touching this, add one or two layers to “Top shell layers”.
- A large part with a lot of solid area, like a thick flat base: you can raise it to 0.45 mm to save a bit of time.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 0.42 | Standarddefault |
| 0.45 | A bit faster |
Watch out for
- Don't confuse it with the visible top surface: that one has its own width (“Top surface”).
