Infill filament
Which filament prints the inner infill. “Default” uses the filament assigned to the object; picking another lets you have a cheap inside with a nice outside, at the cost of spool changes on every layer.
How it works
Infill isn't visible. With the AMS (the multi-spool feeder) you can print it with a cheap or recycled filament and save the good one for the walls and the top and bottom layers.
Every layer with infill adds a filament change with its purge: the print takes much longer and plastic is spent on the tower.
When to change it
- Almost always: Default.
- A large box in expensive silk PLA with lots of infill: try a cheap or recycled PLA inside and compare the time.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| Default | Defaultdefault |
| Another filament | Cheap inside |
Watch out for
- Filament changes usually cost more in time than they save in plastic.
- With “Flush into objects' infill” turned on, the infill already gets the purge mix.
