Alternate extra wall
Adds one more wall on every other layer. It interlocks with the infill and the part gains strength without paying the time of an extra wall on every layer.
How it works
With normal walls, the boundary between wall and infill sits in the same place on every layer: a weak vertical line where the part can split. With this option, odd layers get one extra loop; on even layers, that area is taken by the infill. Wall and infill lock together layer by layer, like the bricks in a wall.
It costs half of what adding a wall on every layer would, and it mainly improves the bond between layers and between wall and infill.
When to change it
- A shelf bracket or a clamp that breaks right at the joint between wall and infill, or splits between layers: turn it on.
- A decorative figurine or a prototype to check the shape: not needed.
