Tree branch diameter
How thick the tree support's branches are where they start. Thin ones come off almost by themselves, but can break or wobble; thick ones hold up heavy parts, but leave more marks.
How it works
Each branch starts at its contact point with this diameter and gets thicker as it goes down (according to “Branch diameter angle”). At 2 mm, branches snap with your fingers; at 5 mm, they're trunks.
The A1 comes with 2 mm because its cooling and speed work well with thin branches; the factory profiles for other printers use 5 mm.
When to change it
- On the A1: 2 mm, the default.
- A tall figure, like a warrior holding a sword up high, where the branches break or move during the print: 3–4 mm.
- A small, light board game miniature with lots of branches: 1.5 mm.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 2 mm | A1 defaultdefault |
| 3–4 mm | Tall or heavy parts |
| 1.5 mm | Small figures |
Watch out for
- It only exists for tree supports.
- The “Tree Strong” style already makes branches thicker on its own.
