Support ironing direction
The angle of the ironing passes relative to the interface lines. Crossing them (45°) smooths better than running parallel (0°).
How it works
If the ironing runs parallel to the interface lines, the nozzle drops into the same grooves and smooths them less. On a diagonal it rides over several ridges on each pass and melts them evenly.
It comes set to 0° because finish matters less on support. If you turn on ironing to improve the finish, 45° usually gives a better result.
When to change it
- The underside of a figure that will be on show, when you turned on ironing precisely to smooth it: 45°.
- If you only want to make sure the part sits flat: the default 0°.

Using another slicer? Look for the idea, not the name: in Orca Slicer almost everything has the same name; in PrusaSlicer or Cura it may be called something else, or not exist.
