Length of sparse infill anchor

When two infill lines end close to each other by the wall, they're joined with a short segment that follows the wall, so they aren't left loose. This value is the maximum length of that segment, as a percentage of the line width.

Not always visible. In Bambu Studio this setting only shows up when “Sparse infill density” is greater than 0 and “Maximum length of sparse infill anchor” is greater than 0. See Sparse infill density, Maximum length of sparse infill anchor.

How it works

Infill lines run up to the inner wall and end there. Left loose, they don't grip much. The slicer tries to join each line to its neighbor with a small segment that hugs the wall: that's an anchor.

This value is the maximum length of that segment, as a percentage of the infill line width: 400% of 0.45 mm is 1.8 mm. If it can't find a wall segment shorter than “Maximum length of sparse infill anchor”, the line is anchored on one side only.

When to change it

  • You rarely need to touch it: 400% works well.
  • A large box or a planter with little infill, where you cut it open and see the infill pulling away from the wall: raise it to 600%.
  • A part with thin walls where marks from the infill show on the outside face: lower it to 200%.

Watch out for

  • It only shows up if “Maximum length of sparse infill anchor” is greater than 0.
  • You can also enter it in millimeters instead of a percentage.

What Bambu Studio says

Connect a sparse infill line to an internal perimeter with a short segment of an additional perimeter. If expressed as percentage (example: 15%) it is calculated over sparse infill line width. Slicer tries to connect two close infill lines to a short perimeter segment. If no such perimeter segment shorter than infill_anchor_max is found, the infill line is connected to a perimeter segment at just one side and the length of the perimeter segment taken is limited to this parameter, but no longer than anchor_length_max. Set this parameter to zero to disable anchoring perimeters connected to a single infill line.
