Support speed
How fast the body of the supports is printed. They end up in the trash, so they can go fast; the limit is that they mustn't wobble.
How it works
Supports don't need a finish: they just have to hold the part up and come off cleanly at the end. At 150 mm/s (the factory value) they're fast and stable. The layer that touches the part (the interface) has its own, lower speed.
When to change it
- A statue with a raised arm, held up by tall, thin supports that move or break halfway through the print: lower it to 100 mm/s.
- Short, blocky supports, like the ones under a short shelf: you can raise it to 200 mm/s.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 100 | Tall, thin supports |
| 150 | Defaultdefault |
| 200 | Short, wide supports |
Watch out for
- With tree supports, the thin branches suffer more at high speed.
