Seam away from overhangs
When the corner chosen for the seam ends up hanging in the air, it moves the seam to a supported stretch. Fewer bumps and fewer loops that start over nothing.
How it works
With the seam on “Aligned” or “Back”, the slicer picks a corner and repeats it layer after layer. If on some layers that corner is an overhang (it sticks out with nothing underneath), the loop starts in mid-air: the plastic doesn't grab, the seam bulges and sometimes the line comes loose.
With this option, on those layers the seam moves to a point on the loop that does have support. The seam line is no longer perfectly vertical, but the overhang comes out better.
When to change it
- A figure with a chin, a visor or a wing sticking out right where the seam falls: turn it on.
- A box or a cup with straight walls: nothing changes; leave it off.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| No | Default; the seam doesn't movedefault |
| Yes | Moves away from overhanging stretches |
Watch out for
- It only works with “Aligned” and “Back”; with “Random” or “Nearest” the option doesn't even show up.
- It's marked as experimental: the seam line may make a visible jump where it changes place.

Using another slicer? Look for the idea, not the name: in Orca Slicer almost everything has the same name; in PrusaSlicer or Cura it may be called something else, or not exist.
