Starting height
The height at which the speed starts to drop. Below it, the part prints at normal speed.
Not always visible. In Bambu Studio this setting only shows up when “Slow down by height” is on. See Slow down by height.
How it works
With “Slow down by height” turned on, the speed cap stays the same up to this height and from here drops in a straight line to the ending height. At 0 (the factory value) the slowdown starts right at the plate.
When to change it
- A lamp or a trophy with a wide base that only gets thin higher up: set the height where the thin part begins (for example, 60 mm).
- A tower that's thin from the base up: leave it at 0.
Typical values
| Value | What for |
|---|---|
| 0 | Default; from the platedefault |
| 60 | Parts that get thinner above that height |
Watch out for
- It must be lower than the ending height.
- It only shows up with “Slow down by height” turned on.

Using another slicer? Look for the idea, not the name: in Orca Slicer almost everything has the same name; in PrusaSlicer or Cura it may be called something else, or not exist.
